銀座三越のリニューアルオープン企画展「未来へ繋ぐ茶箱展」のために作りました。
千利休が建てたといわれる現存する最古の茶室、国宝・待庵。その修復時に出た古材を使って作られた茶箱と見立てにまつわる展示会です。 茶器を見立てるのが王道ですが、今回は茶箱を「大切なものを入れる箱」に見立て、指輪を仕舞うガラス細工をデザインしました。箱を開けたとき、目に飛び込んでくるきらきら感と、茶箱から厳かに茶器が出て来るときの期待感。心の動きにどこか通じるものを感じました。 利休好みではないですが、「自由と個性」は表現できたかと思います。
This is a ring cake we designed for Ginza Mitsukoshi exhibition to commemorate its renewal opening, “Chabako (tea-ceremony utensil boxes) for the future”.
The national treasure tea ceremony room, “Taian”, is the oldest remaining tea ceremony room said to have been designed by Sen no Rikyu. The exhibition was about chabakos made of recycled materials generated during its restoration and the concept of “mitate (art of likening something to something else)”. Most participants of the exhibition chose tea cups as subject of mitate but we chose chabakos and likened them to “boxes to keep precious things” and designed a piece of glassware to hang rings. Brightness that hits your eyes when you open the box and excitement when you see a tea cup solemnly brought out of a chabako. We saw parallels between these two instances in how they move people. The product is not very Sen no Rikyu-esque but we believe we managed to express the sense of “freedom and individuality”.
为了参加银座三越百货公司改装开幕企画展「串联未来的茶箱展」，我设计了这件作品。
千利休打造的待庵，是日本目前现存最古老的茶室，已经列为国宝；这次将修复茶室时所产生的古材，重新利用，制成茶箱，和其他相关作品，共同展示。 最便捷的想法当然制作茶器，不过我重新思考诠释茶箱，视为是「收藏重要物品的箱子」，设计了摆放戒指的玻璃工艺品。 打开箱盖时，原本是慎重严肃地迎接茶器的出现，然而映入眼中的却是耀眼光采，令人怦然心动。 虽然这种风格应该不是利休所好，但我相信作品展现出「自由与个性」。
